Your email addresses
Your hosting carries the email addresses of your domains, for example contact@your-domain.com. Each one has its own mailbox and its own password, and can be read in the webmail as on your devices.
Creating an address
- In the panel, open E-mail Accounts, then Create Account.
- Enter the name of the address, for example
contact, and choose the domain. - Choose a password, or let the panel suggest one.
- Set a quota for this mailbox, if you wish.
The address receives its mail straight away, as soon as your domain uses the name servers of your server (see Domain name and DNS). The number of addresses depends on your plan: 50 with Perso, 200 with Pro, unlimited with Premium.
To change an address's password, open E-mail Accounts and choose the address.
The webmail
Open https://web1.simafri.cloud/roundcube (with your server's name), then sign in with the full email address and its password. Roundcube reads, writes, sorts and searches your mail from any browser. The panel also opens it from Webmail: Roundcube.
Reading your mail on your devices
Outlook, Apple Mail, Thunderbird, and the mail apps of Android and iPhone are set up as follows:
| Setting | Value |
|---|---|
| Email address and username | the full address, for example contact@your-domain.com |
| Password | the address's password |
| Incoming server | IMAP, web1.simafri.cloud, port 993, SSL/TLS |
| Outgoing server | SMTP, web1.simafri.cloud, port 465, SSL/TLS, or port 587, STARTTLS |
| Outgoing server authentication | yes, with the same address and the same password |
Replace web1.simafri.cloud with your server's name, shown in your panel's address (see Your servers).
Choose IMAP: your messages stay on the server, and every device sees the same folders. For a computer that downloads its mail, POP3 answers on port 995, over SSL/TLS.
Forwarding, replying while you are away
- E-mail Forwarders: sends an address's mail on to one or more others, for example
info@to two colleagues. A forwarder can exist without a mailbox. - Autoresponders: replies automatically to each message received, for an absence or an acknowledgement of receipt.
- In Roundcube, Settings, then Filters: sorts incoming messages into a folder, by sender or subject.
The anti-spam
Every incoming message goes through the server's anti-spam. In the panel, SpamAssassin Setup sets its strictness and where unwanted messages go, for example a Spam folder in the mailbox; SPAM Filters blocks a specific sender, domain or word.
SPF and DKIM: mail that is recognised
When your domain uses the name servers of your server, its SPF and DKIM records are published for you: your recipients' mail services recognise your mail as authentic.
If your domain keeps its DNS elsewhere, add at your DNS host:
- an SPF record of type
TXTthat includes your server, for examplev=spf1 a mx a:web1.simafri.cloud ~all; - the DKIM record of type
TXTnamedx._domainkey, whose value you copy from DNS Management in the panel.
The details are in Domain name and DNS.
For a team
For a team that also shares its calendar, contacts and files, or whose mail calls for large storage, Simafri Suite brings together email, calendar, contacts and files at your domain name, with unlimited users. Your site stays on your hosting, and your domain's mail moves to the Suite.
Frequently asked questions
My mail program rejects the password.
Check that the username is the full email address, rather than the panel login. If needed, give the address a new password in E-mail Accounts, then enter it in your program.
My messages land in my recipients' spam folders.
Check that your domain does publish its SPF and DKIM (see above). If your domain uses our name servers and the case still arises, write to support with the address of a recipient concerned: our team looks into delivery with you.
