Frequently asked questions

What is Simafri web hosting?

Hosting for your PHP sites and applications, your MySQL databases and your email addresses at your own domain name, which you manage from a DirectAdmin panel. Our team runs the server for you: hardware, system, security and backups. See the overview.

Which plan should I choose?

Perso for one site and its email addresses, with two domain names on the account. Pro for several sites, with unlimited domains, 200 addresses and 50 databases. Premium for unlimited addresses and databases. See the overview.

Where do I find my panel address and my login?

In your client area my.simafri.com, Web hosting section, and in the email that told you your hosting was ready. See Getting started.

How do I get or change the panel password?

In your hosting's card, Get my password, then New password to change it. It is shown only once and it works within a minute. See The control panel.

Can you install WordPress for me?

Yes: write to support stating the domain, and our team installs WordPress, or the application of your choice, on your hosting.

Can you transfer my site from another host?

Yes: our team transfers your files, your databases and your email addresses, then tells you when to switch your domain over. Mention it when you order or write to support.

Which PHP versions are available?

PHP 8.4, 8.3 (default), 8.1 and 7.4, to choose per domain in PHP Version Selector. Another version can be added on request. See Putting your site online.

Do I have SSH access?

Yes, with all three plans, using the key you add in SSH Keys. Composer, Git, Node.js 24 and npm run there on the command line. See Putting your site online.

Can I host a Symfony or Laravel site?

Yes, with a MySQL database: the domain's web root is linked to the project's public/ folder. See Putting your site online.

Are my sites served over HTTPS?

Yes: each domain and subdomain receives its Let's Encrypt certificate, requested and renewed automatically.

How do I read my email on my phone?

With IMAP, on your server's name, port 993, with the full address and its password; sending goes through SMTP, port 465 or 587. See Your email addresses.

My domain name is with another registrar: what should I do?

Replace its name servers with those of your server, for example ns1.web1.simafri.cloud and ns2.web1.simafri.cloud, or add its records at your DNS host. See Domain name and DNS.

How do backups work?

The server is backed up every night, encrypted, off the machine, and each backup is kept for seven days. Our team restores a file, a database, a mailbox or your whole account from the night of your choice. See Backups and security.

Where are the servers located?

In France, in the European Union, on datacenter-grade machines: Intel Xeon processors, ECC memory and mirrored NVMe SSDs. See Your servers.

Can I change plans?

Yes: your hosting moves up to the next plan on simple request, with all its content. See Billing and renewal.

What happens to my hosting if a renewal is still to be paid?

It is suspended, with all its data kept, and resumes by itself within a minute of your payment, just as you left it.

My application must run continuously: is this the right product?

For a Node.js server, a PostgreSQL database or a worker running permanently, choose the VPS Pro: you install whatever your application needs there, with Full-Stack Assistance.
