Your files

The Drive app holds your company's documents: quotes, invoices, scans, photos. You put files in, you file them, you hand one to somebody who has no account here through a link, and you open the whole thing as a disk in your file explorer.

Everyone on the team has their drive, whether they read a mailbox or not. Shared drives are created and filled from Manage shared drives, in the rail.

On a shared drive, each member holds a role: read, or read and write. The Who is on this drive screen lists the members and records every change, visible to the people it concerns.

Adding, filing, throwing away

Add a file puts something in, New folder files it. A file is renamed, moved and downloaded from its actions menu. A file weighs up to 64 MB.

Move to trash sets aside: what sits there is deleted for good after thirty days, and takes room in your plan until then. Restore brings it back, Delete permanently settles it at once and frees the room.

Share builds an address you send to whoever you like, including people with no account here:

  1. choose the expiry: 1, 7, 30 or 90 days;
  2. add a password if the document deserves one;
  3. copy the link right away: it is shown once.

A file's list of links shows how many times each has been used and how long it lasts. Remove switches one off before its expiry. Past its term, the link tells its visitor to ask for a new one.

Opening your files as a disk

Your drives mount in Windows Explorer, the Mac Finder and the iPhone Files app, with nothing to install:

The top level lists the drives you have access to. The drive properties show the account's free space, the very one the suite displays.

What counts towards your plan

Files, trash included, take room in the account's plan, along with mail, calendars and address books. One gauge answers everywhere. See Storage and billing.
